Hi..
Yep, off to a good start this year, just like I predicted. First post of the month, and it's already the 10th. Whoo hoo....
First thing, happy Chinese New Year (yesterday). It's the year of the rooster suckas. Apparently, the year of the rooster is also known as the year of the widow. It's ok, I didn't want to get married this year anyway...
Been watching movies? I have, more or less. Seen some good ones in the last few weeks:
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou - Wes Anderson's 4th feature. Great performance by Bill Murray as an aging oceanographer trying to cope with his legacy, family, friends, and life in general. Murray has to get an Oscar one of these days - he's just keeps getting better with age - but until then, go see this and curse the heavens that he has yet to recieve the recognition that he so rightly deserves...
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - All eye candy, all the time. Jude Law stars as Sky Captain, trying to save the world (of a fictional tomorrow). Great CGI - everything was computer genereated except for the actors. Does the script hold up? It does in the context of the film - it's a fun pulp adventure story. Fun for all...
The Forgotten: An alien abduction story? Damn...
The Bourne Supremacy - Matt Damon kicking ass while the CIA that created him wonders how. Much better than "Bourne Identity"...
Catwoman - I fell asleep before Halle Berry underwent her transformation into the most catlike of women. One might even call her a "catwoman". Hmmmm...
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead - British gangster drama about a self-exiled gangster (Clive "the man" Owen) who returns to his former haunts to avenge the death of his brother. Awesome performance by Owen, who is becoming one of my favorite actors. It's a slow moving film, but that works to it's advantage...
King Arthur - Not as bad as I was thinking, and way, way, way better than "Troy"....
Up on deck for this evening: Aliens Vs. Preadator. I'm not going in with ANY expectations. I'm hoping to at least see some good alien on preadator action...
Back tomorrow...
